Calvin was born on December 12, 1945, to the late Addie and Irene (Boyd) Waters in Washington, NC.  He was the type of son who did anything necessary to take care of his mother including stopping for supper just because she asked, whether he needed a meal or not.  Calvin was a good man who loved people and working at Roses department store for over 14 years, and then owning and operating Calvin's Carpet Clean, afforded him the opportunity to meet with people every day.

He was an ordained minister who spent over 20 years volunteering his services leading those who needed him most through prison ministry.  He loved the Lord and as a self-proclaimed "Waterfront Minister" and would speak with anyone wanting to fellowship.

Along with his parents, Calvin was preceded in death by his brother, James Stanley Waters.

Calvin is survived by his, stepson Derek Torayno; sister Rita (Andy) Waters Lee of Garner, NC; niece, Kimberley Jimmerson; four nephews, Kenneth (JoAnna) Waters, Kevin Waters, Edwin (LeeAnn) Lee, and Adam (Vivian) Lee; six great nephews, four great nieces three great-great nephews and one great-great niece.

An open viewing will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2022, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm at Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service, Washington, NC.

A Graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022, 12:00 pm at the Boyd Family Cemetery, with Pastor Tad Tankard officiating.

Calvin was most definitely a wonderful man. He married me and my husband back in 2007. He helped my husband in a bad time in his life years ago we he had lost his way, they even started going to church together for a while. We were so blessed to know him and I know he is most definitely in heaven with the angels.

Rita and Andy, we are so sorry but we know he is out of pain. You were certainly there for him and he knew he could always count on his little sister. I'm sure he's happy and talking to a lot of folks there this morning. Love you both.
