Tribute & Message From The Family

"If love was gold, she would have been the richest person in the world."

Jewel Taylor Elks, age 68, a resident of Vanceboro NC, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022.

A visitation will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service with a
graveside service following at 3:30 pm at Pamlico Memorial Gardens.

Jewel was born on April 10, 1953, in Columbus, MS. A smart woman who could do anything that she put her mind to. From working the farm priming tobacco, to tending patients as a phlebotomist, Jewel could, and excelled at it all. She was a woman who loved to travel and thought nothing of jumping in her son's big truck to ride the open road; whether to Hershey Pennsylvania so she could say she bought a candy bar there, to simply burning gas riding around the county or going to see her folks.

She was loved, more than she ever knew by her late husband Tannis "Medfred" Elks, and those who survive; sons Ervin and David Elks; Three gr and children Christopher Elks (Shaina), Jamie Asby (Logan), and Robert Elks. Six great grandchildren Jayden Bellah, Addalynn Elks, Elijah Elks, Jayce Elks, Gabriel Asby, and Jewel Asby. A sister-in-law, Ollie (Wade ) Allen; Brother-in-law Ervin "Ricks" Elks Jr. (Peggy Martin Elks);

Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service is honored to be assisting the Elks family.
